Promoting the acceptance and rights of sex workers

The XENIA association was established in 1984 with the aim of promoting public acceptance of sex work and improving the working conditions of sex workers. Originally active in the city of Bern only, XENIA now operates throughout the canton within the framework of a service agreement with the canton of Bern.

Since its foundation, the centre has been run by a committee of volunteers that meets around eight times a year. The committee determines the strategic direction and supports project development.
The committee also maintains a network at the political level to advocate for the association’s concerns.
